Big day

April 12 is a big day. In 1861, Confederate forces began firing upon Fort Sumter. In 1961, Yuri Gagarin became the first human in space. And in 1981, the Space Shuttle Columbia launched for the first time.

To mark the fiftieth anniversary of Gagarin’s flight, there is First Orbit, a “real time recreation of Yuri Gagarin’s pioneering first orbit, shot entirely in space from on board the International Space Station.” I haven’t had the time to watch it, but I plan to.
