How very true
I just finished Beyond Singularity, a collection edited by Jack Dann and Gardner Dozois. The stories are set in futures where humans have superhuman abilities. One of the stories was “Coelacanths” by Robert Reed. I wasn’t overly thrilled with the story, but there was one part of a speech a character gave that I feel more people need to realize.
“We have never been so powerful, we humans. … Yet still, as surely as tomorrow comes, our glories today will seem small and quaint in the future, and what looks golden now will turn to the yellow dust upon which our magnificent children will tread!”
