Offensive, yet amusing

Every now and then I take a look at OneNewsNow.com, mainly to skew the results of their one-sided polls. But I was looking around and I came across this article, “Ministry takes advantage of Darwin’s 200th b’day.” I don’t know how long it will be up, so I’ll copy it below. I found the article offensive because of the bogus claim that, “Many of the social ills of the day have a Darwinian connection.” Bullshit. I think many of the social ills of the day have a religious connection. But the part I found amusing, was when it said that “…more than 160 events are planned worldwide to mark the 200th anniversary of Darwin’s birth.” Yet, “To counter those celebrations, the Kentucky-based Creation Museum — operated by the apologetics ministry Answers in Genesis — has planned several events. Among them the ministry will be hosting two national conferences, titled ‘Answers for Darwin,’ in two churches on the East and West coasts.” 160 events supporting Darwin versus 2 that will oppose him. I think that’s funny. Happy Darwin Day!

The Creation Museum will provide Christians with tools and resources to counter upcoming celebrations of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Charles Darwin.

On February 12, more than 160 events are planned worldwide to mark the 200th anniversary of Darwin’s birth. Darwin, who argued for a process he called “natural selection,” is regarded as the father of modern evolutionary theory — which writes off the biblical account of creation.

To counter those celebrations, the Kentucky-based Creation Museum — operated by the apologetics ministry Answers in Genesis — has planned several events. Among them the ministry will be hosting two national conferences, titled “Answers for Darwin,” in two churches on the East and West coasts.

Spokesman Mark Looy says many people do not realize that Darwin’s theory has fueled many problems in society.

“Not only the bad science he came up with, but also some of the devastating consequences of Darwinian thinking that’s led to an increase in racism [and an] increase in abortion,” says Looy. “Many of the social ills of the day have a Darwinian connection.”

The Creation Museum will also have on display an exhibit on Darwin and natural selection.
